At a recent meeting a prospect posed the question that went along the lines of “what are the steps to network marketing success?” It created a lengthy pause in the room but between several of us, we were able to combine our thoughts and provide a solid answer.

The truth is, my steps to achieving internet network marketing success involve consistency. Dean Jackson is one of the smartest marketing men on the planet. He once said…

“People start to make money online when they’ve been doing something CONSISTENTLY for a minimum of 90 days. Before 90 days – not so much. But at the 90 day point, things start to happen and take off.”

Why is that?

Anyways, an article I saw at internetnetworkmarketingmentors.com caught my interest and it listed the 12 daily methods of operation. It explains that there is not one thing that will achieve success in this business but a variety of things that when they all come together and are performed in a consistent fashion, then magic can happen.

It’s an excellent read and one that will challenge you to get some consistency in your efforts on a daily basis as you build and consolidate your business.

It’s not one thing that creates your millionaire status in this business.  It’s a bunch of things compiled and completed every single day that translate and affect everything we do for our business, making us more successful each step of the way.

Each day there are certain things I do in my business to create lead generation.  None is more important than the other because every task fits somewhere and does something especially important in order to make sense of all of the other tasks I perform.  Some days I get mixed up and frustrated and overwhelmed.  Some days I’m spot on and I am a machine making use of my time like a Ninja Turtle.  Ha!

In our previous article, we spoke about why people fail with network marketing and the six steps on how to set goals and win. I thought a lot about the Renegade Network Marketer and what Ann Sieg has taught over the past few years and after posting the article, I decided to dust off my physical copy of her book and read it again.

Now I want you to know that I almost know it off by heart; or I did but it had been a couple of years since I had gone through it so I decided to brush up my knowledge. It’s amazing isn’t it; sometimes you think you have it all under control and know it all but when you go back over something there are some vital points you miss. It’s like watching a favorite movie. For me, Tom Hanks in Castaway never gets old…I must have seen it 40-50 times and do you know every time I watch it there’s some meaning in the movie I missed. Do you get the same thing?

So what’s the point of all this? Well, if you have the Renegade Network Marketer and haven’t read it for some time then go over it again. I started with this course when it first launched in mid 2007; I still get great nuggets of gold to apply to my business that I missed previously.

The truth is, that most people don’t have the desire to improve their financial lot in life.

There, I said it. You’re probably saying “hold on a minute, are you saying I don’t want to earn more money?”

No I’m not. What I am saying though is that most of us are not willing to take the action required to achieve what we dream about. A dream alone won’t help you. It’s a good start, but unless you add the important ingredient of action then it will always be a dream.

The other thing you need is a vehicle and the right business model to follow. When I came across Ann Sieg’s training it was a totally new concept to me for network marketing but it made sense. So I focused on learning the system and teaching others the same thing.

The right mindset + the right vehicle + action in my book equals impending success. It’s only a matter of time. Without the last ingredient then nothing will happen no matter what you hear about thinking things into your life. It’s like the guy who wants to win the lottery. He’ll tell you he’s thinking hard about it and when you ask him how much he spends each week on it he’ll say…”no, I don’t play it, I’m thinking it into existence!”

One of my favorite motivators is Brian Tracy and I posted about this on another blog recently. I ran across a short video Brian did called the “21 Success Secrets of Self Made Millionaires”. It’s short but boy it packs a punch as most of Brian’s teachings do.

The message today is you can find a system for example, The Renegade Network Marketer and do nothing and nothing will happen. But if you take some action and apply what you learn then things will happen. You are making them happen.

It doesn’t matter how cute and fancy you get with your internet network marketing business the fact remains, unless you are consistently generating prospects then you will fail to build a business.

I know that’s not what you wanted to hear and from the emails I get it amazes me how many people are still looking for the magic push button system that will flood their inbox with tons of prospects. Remember, this is network marketing and it’s not supposed to be easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it and profiting.

The internet has definitely expanded the possibilities for prospecting and while I am successful online, I still like to brush up on my knowledge and stay informed of what works and what doesn’t. We mentioned Ty Tribble in our last post the the effectiveness of his MLM Blog Secrets course and Ty is one guy whose emails I always head to and read.

Another is Ann Sieg. It was only a few days ago when I was going through my list of resources that I came across one of her products sitting in a file “gathering dust.” It was the Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto and was the follow up to the 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and The Renegade Network Marketer.

The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto was released in 2009 and is a must read. Having a little spare time on my hands I decided to sit down and read it again and it still had the same effect on me as when I first read it. For sheer quality information and strategies on how to attract prospects without doing the hard sell that everyone hates then this is a must.

What is it about? In a nutshell, it’s about how to capitalize on “attraction marketing” yourself so you can never run out of true prospects for your business. We’re talking about qualified prospects; the ones who come to you and and won’t give you a mouth full of abuse in the process.

If haven’t read The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto yet then do yourself a favor and grab a copy. It’s free and always has been and will make a huge difference to the way you approach your prospecting.

Now this is nothing new and we’ve been promoting internet network marketing for several years now but the key here is, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on internet network marketing tactics on a regular basis.

The truth is, most still don’t understand this stuff and it’s completely foreign to them because all they’ve been taught is offline methods; prospecting friends, family and acquaintances and there’s nothing wrong with this when you use it in conjunction with online marketing methods.

Ann Sieg released two life changing reports in the past five years; The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and The Attraction Marketers Manifesto. If you haven’t read either of these reports which are completely free then grab them here. It’s an important grounding before you start working out how to utilize the power of the internet to attract network marketing prospects.

Matt raises a good point with his last tip in the video below and that’s getting aligned with a network marketing system. There are some excellent choices out there including The Renegade Network Marketer which is a must read, Magnetic Sponsoring and Ty Tribble’s MLM Blog Secrets.

I often get asked which is the best and my response is always the same…I can’t split them. But I will say one thing…if you really want to fast forward your ability to get something going online then you need to start branding yourself and a blog is the best way to do this. Free network marketing leads are not hard to get and the truth is, you should always chase them free instead of paid.

Internet network marketing has given you a tremendous opportunity to gather leads free and when you generate them yourself, you know exactly how many others have used them, where they came from and how they were generated. This is not the case with paid network marketing leads which can cause people a little grief and plenty of rejection.

So how can you generate network marketing leads free? We spoke in the previous post about converting the content you receive from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com into video articles and how powerful this is in attracting network marketing business leads.

Another excellent way is to create reports from the content and then distributing them online with links within the report back to your other resources.

Ann Sieg and the 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing are a great example of how free reports can generate MLM leads for free all day and all night long. That report then contained links within it to other free resources and of course, The Renegade Network Marketer.

Here’s a shortlist of what you can do with the articles you receive each month from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com

#1.. Gather several article and simply put them together and create a report. Add an introduction page of a couple of hundred words, a title, links back to your products and other free resources and create a PDF report.

#2.. To capture leads, create an opt in on your website or landing page where people will give you their name and email for your report.

#3.. Offer the report to your subscribers to re-brand and distribute themselves but with a condition or two. That they leave a link intact to your website usually at the beginning where you will create a “this report was created by… and you may freely distribute it etc.” Offer people the word document version and the rights to change up the content.

Now you can produce one of these reports a minimum of once a month with the content from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com. Imagine having 12 reports online by the end of the year acting like your free network marketing lead generator 24 hours a day. Do you think you might gather a lead or two?

This was crucial when I ventured into the minefield that was internet network marketing back in 2004 and I remember the thoughts going through my mind back then wasn’t how to make money online but would someone take the time without charging me an “arm and a leg to show me.”

The good news was yes, I eventually came across my online business coach and built a solid, income producing business but the bad news was, I spent about 60K over a nine month period on crap courses and coaching programs that were literally designed to suck money out of your wallet and then let you fend for yourself.

You could say I was “in the hole” well and truly struggling to find my paddle to get my canoe back into calmer waters.

Ann Sieg came along in 2007 and virtually “blew the lid” on network marketing making many enemies in the old school club but gaining a ton of respect from the majority. This is why the information you post on your blog or site is vital. The material you put on your blog that teaches your readers something about how they can improve their lot within the niche you are targeting is the groundwork that will gain their trust. It’s designed to get them to opt into your list.

How much easier would it be to make a sale to someone who already trusts and respects you rather than hitting them first up with a sales pitch when they don’t know you. By developing trust with your audience it’s highly likely they will consider looking at something you recommend later down the track. This is one of the principles taught in Ann Sieg’s The Renegade Network Marketer.

Imagine this…you have spent a month providing prospects with useful and actionable content. They have been able to use this information to further there own cause. For example let’s say you are in the “Growing Organic Vegetables” niche.

You publish a series of informative articles offering tips and tricks to your readers about growing healthy organic vegetables. You have built up some solid credibility with them and they are at a point where they value your opinion.

So you then come across a resource you think would also benefit them but it’s going to mean they part with their money. The chances that some of them are going to do exactly this is strong. How would you approach them with this offer?

How To Re-Direct An Affiliate Link

Let’s say it’s something that is going to help them grow larger tomatoes. When you email them would you send them an affiliate link. Maybe…some of them will probably buy. But how about if the link you send them appears impartial and looks like this:

http://www.yoursite/Recommends/growlargertomatoes.php

The magic word here is recommends. They trust you right. So let’s assume your site is growhealthyorganicvegetables.com The fact that they have been following you for a little time now because they like the information you provide means a recommendation attached to your site is going to have a little more credibility for them than simply sending them a Clickbank affiliate link.

The product you recommend is called “Grow Larger Tomatoes.” So your link would look like this: http://www.growhealthyorganicvegetables/Recommends/growlargertomatoes.php. Setting up a recommends folder is not hard at all. Here’s how:

It’s amazing how powerful the word recommends is. It’s been proven to increase sales conversions but only when a list is in a trusting state. If you have a list within a specific niche then this is worth a try. Here is a copy of the code:

Practice setting up a recommends file on a domain you are not really using first just for practice especially if you are foreign to this.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret…in the past five years I have made more money with affiliate marketing than network marketing. While my network marketing business is important to me it’s simply one stream of income that could be blown away by a simple rule change governing the laws of the industry.

Affiliate marketing can create the extra streams of income for you and if you are not using it then I need to ask why not?

Think about the gurus and trainers in the industry you see online. Yes they have been or are successful in network marketing but have you thought about how they are really making money and driving prospects to their network marketing offers.

With up front products that teach and educate the prospect and in turn, they make money affiliate marketing during this phase. Network marketing shouldn’t be considered the be all and end all but simply one stream of income for you to leverage from to get to your end goals.

The internet is all about giving people answers and solutions – it’s an information highway and as an affiliate marketer you can tap into the opportunity by both giving and selling information rather than selling an opportunity. Can you see the difference here?

Selling information is a heck of a lot easier than selling an opportunity. If you are just promoting your network marketing opportuniy then you are really leaving a ton of money on the table. Affiliate marketing comes in various shapes and forms.

You can make money selling one time products, from back end upsells, creating and selling your own products and my favorite, commission continuity products. There is a ton of opportunity today to tap into a source of income many know about but don’t know how to access.

One of the most frequent questions that comes across my desk is how do I get started with affiliate marketing? That’s easy.
