But what is the best social networking site for business and which social network is best for network marketing? To tell you the truth, I really don’t have a definitive answer other than you need to be using several of them in conjunction with each other.

The top four that should be part of the promotion and attraction marketing tools in your arsenal are:

- Facebook
- Twitter
- LinkedIn
- Google+

So, no surprises there. A report I came across recently at Mashable.com might just be the best five minutes you spend online today as they try to answer “which social network should you use?” Each of the top four networks is analyzed including what it’s best for, who uses it and how many users it has.

For example, the report suggests that Facebook is best for…”interacting on a more personal level”.

My definition of social networks and their power is they give you the opportunity to expand your neighborhood and give you the chance to meet or do business with folks you may never have had the chance to meet and do business with.

Does that make sense? It’s a little like internet network marketing with the internet giving networkers the chance to expand their networks to a worldwide audience rather than be confined to their own local neighborhood.

This is a report you might want to bookmark and share with your teams.

Want to make the most of the social web? It’s more complicated than just posting status updates at random and seeing what sticks.

When is Facebook most effective? When are you better off using Twitter, or LinkedIn? And what exactly is Google+ good for, anyway?

Then I had a change of heart. In the main, MLM folks generally like to read the same stuff don’t they? Well, I am going to list some of the internet network marketing blogs I read all the time and I suggest you make these a part of your staple reading diet to.

Why?

Because you are on a constant learning curve and the thing you need to consider is, if you want your blog ranking high and being read by lots of folks then why reinvent the wheel when you simply take bits and pieces from some of the best in the business and apply it to your blog. Make sense.

Before I share I need to confess that the list below are not all MLM blogs. They cover different aspects of working online and each one is extremely useful in it’s own right.

This is not going to be a long post and I will simply list the blogs below but top of the list for me other than InternetNetworkMarketingReview.com is Ann Sieg’s The Renegade Blog. Not because it gets updated every day but because it contains so much “in the trenches” style information that can help you take your business to another level.

Second on the list is Ty Tribble’s Husband, Dad and Entrepreneur blog and again, while Ty does it a little differently than Ann, learning from how he does it and what he posts about is golden.

The others include:

- CopyBlogger.com/blog
- Mashable.com
- SocialMediaExaminer.com
- TrafficGenerationCafe.com
- SearchEngineLand.com

That’s just a shortlist and I have much more to add to the list but I don’t want to overwhelm you right now. So how do I utilize these blogs? As I said, look at what is written, the way it’s written, how the ads are posted etc. and just learn. If there’s something you like, apply it to your model and test it. Basically, get ideas for posting on your own blog.

In my previous post I said to learn from the so called spam that lands in your inbox. Do the same with other marketer’s blogs. Make note of what catches your interest. If there’s a story or post you like, curate it and add it to your blog with a reference to the original story.

Blogging isn’t rocket science and finding material should never be hard to find.

One of the things that overwhelms in this business is distraction. Distraction when working online is usually caused by all the information you receive from different marketers. It’s a little like traveling through the strip in Vegas and being dazzled by the bright lights.

This is where I was several years ago until one marketer who became a mentor pulled me aside and said why don’t you change your mindset and instead of being overwhelmed by the emails you receive from other marketers, think of them as actually being important to growing your business.

So instead of treating them as a chore to go through and complaining about the fact that many times they are marketing to me to sell me something, just tell yourself you are in control and that the information you are getting can help you build your business.

As an example, instead looking at the copy I receive on a daily basis as spam, I learn from the copy writing and the marketing strategies being used and look at ways on how to apply them to my own business.

I have a swipe file of the ones I like and the ones that actually catch my attention and make me read them. I try to analyze what made me read them and why. And when I figure it out, I use them in some form in my business.

Sure, many marketers will send me an offer or two but again, you are in control; you decide whether it fits into your business model and if it does, buy it. But if you buy it, use it.

So in a nutshell, instead of looking at all the marketing material that lands in your inbox as a negative, look at it as a positive and dedicate a small amount of time each day to sift through the helpful stuff and then file it away. The reality is, most times the stuff you file away you may never get to use but occasionally, you will.

Just as an exercise, when you check your email again make a note of the ones that catch your attention. Copy the headlines and save them for use in your own business.

Well, in a nutshell…YES!

Actually, I ran across this in my emails and nearly deleted it. I have an itchy trigger finger and if emails don’t grab my attention in less than a second they get flushed!

Anyways, this email did and it’s funny because I thought exactly what I mentioned above…”oh no…”; but read it anyway. So I thought how do I publish this for you without just posting someone else’s email? Well, I found the original post and it was first publish just under a year ago.

It’s aimed at home business owners and one of the things I’ve found as an internet network marketer which I got on top of very early is that working alone from home might sound great, but very few people can do it. Why? Because they don’t have supervision; there’s no one to keep them honest and most will soon start to get slack and make excuses for why they can’t do something.

Folks, it’s not easy working from home alone and that’s why you need to keep reading these “oh no, not another how to stay on track with your home business” type articles.

If you have got off track then this will be the best five minutes you spend in front of your computer today. I guarantee it.

I can’t tell you how important this is. If you did the work to create a workable plan like I suggested, just follow it! For example, let’s say you decided that you would use article marketing to get free visitors for your site. Your plan was to write one new article every other day, so you could add a few new ones per week. You’d be surprised at how few people will actually stick to a plan like that.

It’s a reasonable plan, and when you think about it, it’s not so hard to get it done. But most people give up after a month (not sure why that’s such a common time period, but it is).Here’s a practical way to stick to your plan. There are two steps. The first step is deciding that you WILL do it.

I know that sounds insane, since your problem might be that you’re not doing it. But listen, you have to lay down the law for yourself. Tell yourself that your future depends on sticking to your plan. Then refuse to compromise on it.The next step is to kill the one thing that gets you off track the most…procrastination…..

I was looking at some of my bookmarks from way back the other day and came across the following short video where Jim Rohn teaches the why behind personal development. I hear from folks who are simply stuck in a cycle like a hamster on a wheel and most times I can pinpoint their problem right away.

They are doing the same old things over and over and expecting something different. When I tell them this many respond a little “offishly” with something like…

“Yes, yes, I’ve heard that all before; it’s insanity right? I know all that stuff.”

Okay, but are you doing anything to change yourself so you can get something different and better from your circumstances? In many cases, the light then goes on.

“Oh, I’ve got to change?”

If you are really struggling in making any progress in your home business take a step back and watch the following video. Jim Rohn talks about two secrets to becoming successful in home business. They are that your income is in direct proportion to the value you give others. Sound familiar. This is stuff Ann Sieg teaches with great results.

And the second secret? The amount of income you make reflects your mindset. The quality of your thinking determines what you get in life. Change it and change just about anything you want to change.

Here are some of the take-aways from the presentation:

- too many people blame everything and everyone else; people are comfortable with a blame list and find it hard to move out of that comfort zone

- do something different in the next 90 days that you did in the previous 90 days

- it’s not what happens that determines the major part of your future; the key is what you do about it meaning starting a process of change

- do this and you’ll start doing different things with the same circumstances…you cannot change the circumstances but you can change yourself

So, did that make sense? Yes, you may have heard it before but if you haven’t tried this I urge you too. If you are struggling right now then it’s a fair bet what you are doing now is not working.

At a recent meeting a prospect posed the question that went along the lines of “what are the steps to network marketing success?” It created a lengthy pause in the room but between several of us, we were able to combine our thoughts and provide a solid answer.

The truth is, my steps to achieving internet network marketing success involve consistency. Dean Jackson is one of the smartest marketing men on the planet. He once said…

“People start to make money online when they’ve been doing something CONSISTENTLY for a minimum of 90 days. Before 90 days – not so much. But at the 90 day point, things start to happen and take off.”

Why is that?

Anyways, an article I saw at internetnetworkmarketingmentors.com caught my interest and it listed the 12 daily methods of operation. It explains that there is not one thing that will achieve success in this business but a variety of things that when they all come together and are performed in a consistent fashion, then magic can happen.

It’s an excellent read and one that will challenge you to get some consistency in your efforts on a daily basis as you build and consolidate your business.

It’s not one thing that creates your millionaire status in this business.  It’s a bunch of things compiled and completed every single day that translate and affect everything we do for our business, making us more successful each step of the way.

Each day there are certain things I do in my business to create lead generation.  None is more important than the other because every task fits somewhere and does something especially important in order to make sense of all of the other tasks I perform.  Some days I get mixed up and frustrated and overwhelmed.  Some days I’m spot on and I am a machine making use of my time like a Ninja Turtle.  Ha!

There are several things when penning an article on the web you need to keep in mind. The people you are appealing to in internet network marketing generally have short attention spans. They are looking for a solution to a problem and have been attracted to your article because of your headline.

It’s like a window in a big department store where they get a shopper’s attention by putting attention seeking items “front and square” to get them into the store. That’s what you want to do with your article; get them to start reading it. The key is to make your article easy to read.

I was going to make a long post on this but found a terrific post at demo.studiopress.com. The author has “hit a home run” with their tips on how to get your reader’s attention when writing articles. Here are the seven things they suggest you need to be doing:

- use short sentences
- use subheads
- make your paragraphs short
- make your content easy to read by using a good font size
- use block quotes in your article
- make the most of bulleted lists
- make use of images in your article

You might have noticed that people’s attention spans are getting shorter.

You can probably thank/blame the internet for that. But it doesn’t matter what’s causing it — what matters is that you’ll have to factor it in when creating your content.

Because if your reader gets bored and drifts away, they’ll never get the chance to benefit from your terrific content.

There are a couple of nifty tricks you can use to help make your content easier to read — and easier for your readers to stick with.
1. Use subheads

Subheads are the various headings and subheadings you can add to your text…..

One of the things internet network marketers forget when writing articles is that a large part of their audience are baby boomers. I like the fourth point about using a good size and readable font size. As a baby boomer myself I will literally turn away from a website if the font is too small. I bet some of you can relate to that.

As I mentioned earlier, a lot of this stuff can come naturally in a short space of time. Just practice doing it and not only will you be doing it without thinking, people will be reading your articles and better still, they will be potential leads that could become part of your main business model.

What does this mean to you? Easy…lots of possible leads and to internet network marketers, leads are the lifeblood to their businesses. But let me warn you, if you are thinking about using Google+ just to ask people if they want to be a part of your business or are looking for a business opportunity, then forget it.

The same rules apply. Those are the attraction marketing rules taught by Ann Sieg in The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto. Anyways, Google is tough and you wouldn’t last too long.

But getting back on track. Why should you use Google+? Well, right now, you are talking about a 90 million members and they are predicting by this time next year, that figure will swell to over 400 million. That’s getting into Facebook territory and it should put a smile on your face.

Using Google+ can give you a dramatic edge over your marketing competitors. It will also help you build a ton more web
traffic and better still, all at no cost. Want to learn more? Fraser Cain is someone who knows how to get traffic to his sites. In fact, his biggest website Universal Today gets at least 120,000 visitors a day…yes, a day!

At keywordstrategy.org he explains why he has dropped everything for Google+.

You may or may not know, but I’m super active on Google+. From the moment the social network was released, I’ve been throwing the lion’s share of my daily energy at that social network to the detriment of almost all my other projects. My writing has slipped, I haven’t recorded all the videos or podcasts I was planning, and I barely see the sun any more.

But I’m pretty sure I’m spending my time wisely. I don’t know how this is all going to turn out, but I can feel it in my bones that something very important is happening online, and I want to be a part of it.

Google+ is the exact opposite of dead.

…..I’ve got almost 30,000 people circling me now, 3x as many followers as Twitter, which took me 5 years to build up. The connections and boost to my reputation have been immeasurable. I’m now approximately the 700th most circled person on Google+……

One of the guys who got me started on the right track to home business success was Jason Potash and he wrote a blog post on how to reach your perfect day in an online business. You probably know and it’s probably been taught to you over and over but it’s one of those things; it sounds so simple yet many people find it hard to stay on track.

Potash is a million plus earner a year in internet marketing. He has produced along with partner Jason Katzenback, some of the most cutting edge products and training course online. In all the time I have been associated with these guys as a mentor and coach, the blog post Potash wrote has been one of the most enlightening moments I’ve had in my association with them.

It’s brilliant!

He laid out the reason why he was doing what he was doing. He recently realized he had succeeded. He had just realized he was living his perfect day. What was it. The explanation is powerful and profound.

It’s the start of a great day! And it’s still only 7:30 am.

As I walk down the hall from our bedroom to my son’s room, I take a peek out the window. I notice a blanket of snow covering the street. But also, patches of black rectangles on my neighbor’s driveways. Those patches are from cars that hit the road an hour (or more) ago. Dads getting up well before the kids and on the road for another daily commute.

Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of this sort of thing. After all, it happens everyday, right? But today was a bit different.

As I paused, looking out the window at those vacant driveways, I thought… look what I got to experience today…..

After reading, do I still need to explain how you can reach the top in network marketing? I know many of you will be going through a frustrating time right now but keeping your focus on why rather than the how you’re doing this is a message that gets a lot of airplay but only a very small percentage actually do it.

I work full time from home as an online marketer. I left a high paying on air television job which wasn’t satisfying at the time to do this. I also moved countries to be married at the time. It was a very scary time. But I had a focus and can totally relate to the blog post you’ve just read.

Well, that’s been put on hold because I received an email from Ann Sieg recently and she was excited about a new course called Make WP Easy. I took a look at the course and was impressed by how easy it was to learn from.

Need more information. Reviews are always good. I was going to record one for this post but decided to post a review I spotted on Ann Sieg’s blog. It’s from one of the stars in online marketing Kate Buck Jr., and it’s just Ann’s way to check the credentials of people promoting courses through her brand.

If you are proficient at building a WordPress site then you probably don’t need the tuition. This course is something I highly recommend if you haven’t got a site of your own yet or you need to spruce up your current site. I’d be happy to build a site for you but it would cost you a lot of money and I’d feel guilty taking it when you find out just how easy it really is.
