It doesn’t matter how cute and fancy you get with your internet network marketing business the fact remains, unless you are consistently generating prospects then you will fail to build a business.

I know that’s not what you wanted to hear and from the emails I get it amazes me how many people are still looking for the magic push button system that will flood their inbox with tons of prospects. Remember, this is network marketing and it’s not supposed to be easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it and profiting.

The internet has definitely expanded the possibilities for prospecting and while I am successful online, I still like to brush up on my knowledge and stay informed of what works and what doesn’t. We mentioned Ty Tribble in our last post the the effectiveness of his MLM Blog Secrets course and Ty is one guy whose emails I always head to and read.

Another is Ann Sieg. It was only a few days ago when I was going through my list of resources that I came across one of her products sitting in a file “gathering dust.” It was the Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto and was the follow up to the 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and The Renegade Network Marketer.

The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto was released in 2009 and is a must read. Having a little spare time on my hands I decided to sit down and read it again and it still had the same effect on me as when I first read it. For sheer quality information and strategies on how to attract prospects without doing the hard sell that everyone hates then this is a must.

What is it about? In a nutshell, it’s about how to capitalize on “attraction marketing” yourself so you can never run out of true prospects for your business. We’re talking about qualified prospects; the ones who come to you and and won’t give you a mouth full of abuse in the process.

If haven’t read The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto yet then do yourself a favor and grab a copy. It’s free and always has been and will make a huge difference to the way you approach your prospecting.

Running with the herd most times will get you nowhere. There are too many followers in network marketing; people who act like an employee and wait to be told to do something. This is counter-productive and your business will just stagnate.

To move forward in your network marketing business you have to take the lead. Take action on a constant basis and always move forward. In a moment, some excellent network marketing tips from Ricardo Ferrari about taking control of your business and taking it to the next level.

But first, one of the biggest problems I see with many networkers is their ability to grasp the enormity and potential they have in their hands. This stems from the prospecting and recruitment stage where they are told “don’t worry, we’ll do the work for you…just get in.”

It’s something Sieg spoke about in The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing. It’s just a waste of your time and other people’s money to draw them into the business with false claims that they don’t have to do any work.

When I was building an MLM business more than ten years ago I was intelligent enough to realize that daily action would produce results. Most times not right away but results would come. My problem was in attracting network marketing leads; I’d exhausted my warm market without too much success so I needed to go out and find qualified people that would be a fit for my business.

Back then, we could distribute fliers. This was a qualifying piece of information that either someone acted upon because they wanted more information or they simply put it away or threw it away. The latter I wasn’t interested in. It was those who wanted more information because what they read in the flier resonated with them.

I set myself a goal of distributing at least 100 a day. After six months guess what, I had distributed close to 20,000 and do you think I was going to attract some leads who were genuinely interested. Heck yeah. That’s the beauty of taking action on a daily basis in network marketing.

The point here is that I didn’t wait for my upline to give me a list of instructions each day on what I needed to do. I just did it. They were there for support when I needed advice and a little confirmation I was on the right track.

That’s simply the secret you’re searching for in getting success in network marketing.

Now this is nothing new and we’ve been promoting internet network marketing for several years now but the key here is, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on internet network marketing tactics on a regular basis.

The truth is, most still don’t understand this stuff and it’s completely foreign to them because all they’ve been taught is offline methods; prospecting friends, family and acquaintances and there’s nothing wrong with this when you use it in conjunction with online marketing methods.

Ann Sieg released two life changing reports in the past five years; The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and The Attraction Marketers Manifesto. Network marketing is a passionate industry; people are so loyal to their own companies to the point of being blinded to the reality that they are not making any money. Yet they continue to plug on hoping to land that special sign up who will explode their business.

Ann Sieg touched a few nerves several years ago when she released her now famous report The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing which said what many wanted to say.

What hurts network marketing is the fact that too many people are encouraged to sign up on the promise they’ll make money without the explanation that they have to work hard to build a business; and they’ll probably be “in the hole” for several months before they start seeing any returns.

I love network marketing but know that it’s tough. To use a famous Australian expression…”it’s hard yakka.”

But it’s still a great business to be in. If only people could tell their prospects the truth instead of conning them into something without even knowing what they really need. Look at the statistics…more than 90% quit after three months.

Make no mistake…you can make a good living with network marketing but it’s no “picnic in the park.”

Jeff Wisuri just released a video rant which resonated with me and I want to share it with you. Jeff also has a blog at JeffWisuri.com.

Jeff will probably touch some nerves here but sometimes you need to hear it like it is. Look at this as more of a reality check and if you are struggling with your business then use this a motivation to make it work rather than a reason to quit.

Network marketing tips will come at you thick and fast and it’s a business that sorts the “men from the boys” or the “women from the girls.” Check out the video below.

Wow, I can imagine I’ll get a bit of heat on that one but stick with me here for a moment. One of the biggest peeves I have with the network marketing industry is this notion that having a job or a J.O.B. is a bad thing. It’s not. Ann Sieg published a classic free report called the 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing several years ago detailing some of the myths about network marketing you need to know about.

The “no job” angle should be added because it should never be thrown at people as a reason to join an MLM business. Sure, people hate their jobs in the main or should I say, they hate the travel and the environment more than the actual job itself.

But think for a moment, you are prospecting someone who is barely making ends meet and their job is basically keeping them from getting on the wrong side of the ledger. How would you feel if you told them you have an opportunity for them to leave their job and they did and then six months later, for various reasons, they became one of the 95% of people who fail at network marketing. They would be “up the creek without a paddle.”

Cathie Heath at CathieHeath.com has recorded a brilliant video on the topic of network marketing and J.O.B.’s.

She says…”However, there’s a tragic way of thinking in the network marketing industry that can cause people to think of themselves as failures, ruin lives, etc…..Don’t fall victim to this mindset…and please, don’t perpetuate it…..”

Again, she may take a little heat for saying it and I recommend you watch the video and really get the message behind what she is saying.

Well firstly let me say that most of the gurus with big lists have been building their lists for a long time. I have often read Ann Sieg stating that her message is going out to several hundred thousand people. Now that would be nice wouldn’t it but you have to remember, she has been building her list for several years.

This email will be split into two parts because it’s important to describe the benefits of building an opt in list firstly and why you need to build one. We’ll also give you the main thing subscribers want from you to get on your list. The second email will be about creating a product…what you need to entice people with to get on you list in the first place.

Why You Need To Create An Opt In List?

It’s very simple, with a list you could get all your sites de-listed by Google yet while it would affect some of your income stream, with an opt in list, you have a resource that will continue to make you money. It’s like working for a company and having your own band of loyal subscribers; if you left that company your salary would stop but you still have your subscriber list to market to.

Now don’t get the idea that just because you have a subscriber list that you can inundate them with marketing offers. Do that and they’ll quickly unsubscribe. You need to give them what they want. They obviously opted in to your list because of the value they saw in what you were giving away. You were potentially or had potentially the solution to their problem.

Can you see where we are heading here?

Give people what they want and they will be loyal to you for as long as you maintain an opt in list.

Let’s take Ann Sieg and the Renegade system as an example. Ann has continued provided value to her readers and it started with her classic free report The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing. That report was easily a $39 value but it was given away free and in exchange, people gave Ann their email address.

But she didn’t stop there. More free training coupled with paid products and her growing list soon came to trust her. That’s how it works. When people trust you and you develop a strong relationship with them you can “write your own ticket.”

But what do you give people in the first place if you are new to internet network marketing and don’t have a product? We’ll take a look at this in our second part of this series, how to create opt in lists.

Free network marketing leads are not hard to get and the truth is, you should always chase them free instead of paid.

Internet network marketing has given you a tremendous opportunity to gather leads free and when you generate them yourself, you know exactly how many others have used them, where they came from and how they were generated. This is not the case with paid network marketing leads which can cause people a little grief and plenty of rejection.

So how can you generate network marketing leads free? We spoke in the previous post about converting the content you receive from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com into video articles and how powerful this is in attracting network marketing business leads.

Another excellent way is to create reports from the content and then distributing them online with links within the report back to your other resources.

Ann Sieg and the 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing are a great example of how free reports can generate MLM leads for free all day and all night long. That report then contained links within it to other free resources and of course, The Renegade Network Marketer.

Here’s a shortlist of what you can do with the articles you receive each month from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com

#1.. Gather several article and simply put them together and create a report. Add an introduction page of a couple of hundred words, a title, links back to your products and other free resources and create a PDF report.

#2.. To capture leads, create an opt in on your website or landing page where people will give you their name and email for your report.

#3.. Offer the report to your subscribers to re-brand and distribute themselves but with a condition or two. That they leave a link intact to your website usually at the beginning where you will create a “this report was created by… and you may freely distribute it etc.” Offer people the word document version and the rights to change up the content.

Now you can produce one of these reports a minimum of once a month with the content from 1NetworkMarketingArticleADay.com. Imagine having 12 reports online by the end of the year acting like your free network marketing lead generator 24 hours a day. Do you think you might gather a lead or two?

And what about the reports you gave your subscribers the right to re-brand containing at least one link back to your website? It’s powerful stuff and when done right, and done consistently, will produce you all the network marketing leads for free you could want.

This was crucial when I ventured into the minefield that was internet network marketing back in 2004 and I remember the thoughts going through my mind back then wasn’t how to make money online but would someone take the time without charging me an “arm and a leg to show me.”

MLM recruiting is tough enough but when people join your network marketing business and then drop out a month later it’s a “hard pill to swallow.” Why did they drop out? Most likely because they weren’t ready for battle.

The worst thing you can do is send an MLM recruit into the field of battle unprepared because whatever enthusiasm they have at this stage will most likely be shot down in flames and usually by the people who love them most. It’s one of the anomalies of an industry that is a sticking point even for successful MLMers…the picture painted to new MLM recruits is a bright one and they are promised plenty of training but it’s the wrong type of preparation.

Imagine a NFL rookie being thrust into the tough world of football without protective pads and a helmet and is told to just get out there and “do your best.” It wouldn’t be long before he was being stretchered off. He wasn’t told it’s brutal out there on the field and there are people out there who want to hurt him. He wasn’t prepared mentally for the experience and couldn’t prepare himself for the inevitable knocks.

That’s pretty much how it is for the majority of MLM recruits. They are not put through extensive pre-season training like NFL players. They are very much under-prepared for the field of battle. Just look at the scary drop-out rate. But you can put the brakes on this big drop-out rate in the first three months by preparing them for what to expect. For example:

- Don’t paint a pretty picture for them and let them know it’s going to be tough and they’ll be rejected lots of times

- Let them know it’s most likely their family and friends who’ll be hardest on them

- Train them thoroughly on how to handle rejection and sometimes ridicule

- Be there for them always until they can walk on their own

MLM recruiting can be tough but when you get someone to join your business make sure they know what it’s going to take to build a business. Make sure they are prepared for battle.
