Network Marketing Tips: How To Stop Self Sabotaging Yourself
These are questions I wish more and more people would ask and seek help for…how to stop self sabotaging yourself? How to stop self sabotaging your success? How to avoid self sabotaging my success? Take it from someone who has been a self sabotage guru once you understand why we self destruct on the verge of success then success is just a few short steps away.
About ten years ago I performed the classic self sabotage trick in network marketing. I won’t go into the full details as this would mean writing a book but it all revolved around a business I got started in after moving to another city following a promotion in my job. It didn’t take me long to build this business and within nine months, I had reached a level that meant within two months, I would be receiving that permanent level check that everyone strives for.
Two things happened. The first involved my personal life with my wife deciding she wouldn’t join me in the move which left me gutted and the second was, I started to get cold feet with all the attention I was suddenly getting from people around me wanting help with their own business.
Now attention was something I was used to as my job involved a lot of on-camera performance but for some reason, the attention and spotlight in network marketing seemed different. It got too much. It seemed like I wasn’t worthy of being successful. At the time I thought the attention was unwarranted; the compliments weren’t deserved. With my wife leaving me it made me feel like I had no self esteem and I blamed myself.
Guess what happened?
I shut everything out. I simply focused on my main job. I went to work and I went home. I wouldn’t answer calls from my team who needed me. I felt both pity for myself and was self punishing myself at the same time. Within months, the thousand dollar-a-week network marketing business I had built crumbled; people in my team started duplicating what I did and that was nothing.
I wish I had a film crew doing a reality shooting around me at the time because it was classic self sabotage.
Randy Gage is one guy I always listen to especially in terms of prosperity. He talks about self sabotage in the following video. It’s short but to the point. He says:
“You can be your own worst enemy and could be sabotaging your prosperity with guilt and regret. Learn the importance of your perceived self-worth and how not beating yourself up can help you live a life of abundance…..”
