Wow! This is so-o-o true and people do it even though they KNOW they are being sucked in. Everyone should read that book, "5 Bucks a Day." Renegade is a great place to place that focus. There are others but it doesn't matter where a person puts his/her focus--only that it is done! I have done the 30 Day Challenge because of its Day 1, Day 2, etc.....

Thanks for your insightful post.

Marketing yourself online in various ways so people find you is a viable way to build your own mailing list but it should be a long term goal. It takes a lot of training on how to do blogging, videos, etc and then you actually have to go out and produce content in abundance to get a steady stream of leads. How much time do you have for this if you have a full time job and/or a family with a lot of activities going on? Maybe you only have 10 to 15 hours per week. If this is the case, spend the bulk of your time making daily contact with as many people as possible who are part of your niche market using whatever means you are comfortable with including networking (online or offline) in discussion forums, instant messaging, etc., talking on Twitter or buying leads (despite what you hear they are not ALL bad). In terms of buying leads, there is one company I know of called Get Response that allows you to design your own ads to get more targeted leads. I also highly recommend a good coach or mentor to help you with a 90 day marketing plan before you even get started.
