How To Be More Productive In Your Network Marketing Business

By InternetNetworkMarketing On December 28, 2011 Under Network Marketing Tips

One question I get a lot is how to be more productive in your network marketing business? Actually, it’s usually how to be more productive in my home business but I want to relate this to network marketers in particular because I see them making these mistakes so often.

Time management is one of my passions. I even started a time management site several years ago and simply named it TimeManagementSite.com. But not to digress and because we are heading into a new year the biggest tip I give home business owners this time of the year every year is to learn how to manage your time better working at home.

Working from home, whether as an internet or network marketer, is tough. Many people fail simply because of how they manage their time. I tell a lot of people who can’t make working from home work to go back and get a real job.

Why?

Because they cannot work unsupervised. Being productive is all about pleasing their boss and when they get into a familiar environment such as their home they relax. They keep putting what has to be done off. Let me make it clear; when working from home in your business you need to imagine it being a job and there are things that need to be done otherwise the boss is not going to be happy. He might even fire you!

So learning how to be more productive in your network marketing business starts with managing your time more effectively.

So how do successful people become so productive? A clue? A lot has to do with how much they value their time. They are almost ruthless with it. You need to be like this too, but in a nice way. Don’t go snubbing the people you know but just make it clear that there is a time for work and a time for play.

I couldn’t resist bringing you the following tips at inc.com when I saw them. The first couple of lines sum it up perfectly when it comes to fighting “unproductiveness”; “people love distractions”.

Would you agree? This might cause some of you to really take some action and start to get productive again. Remember, no one is going to build your business for you. Why should they if you can’t even get motivated enough to do it?

You probably don’t want to admit it but you love distractions. In fact, just like monkeys, you get a shot of dopamine every time something pulls you in another direction. Why do you think you check your email so much?

Want to be more productive and get your focus back? There are no secret tricks here… do one thing at a time. Stop multitasking—it’s just another form of distraction.

Easier said than done, I know.

Recently I sat down with Tony Wong, a project management blackbelt whose client list includes Toyota, Honda, and Disney, to name a few. He’s an expert in keeping people on task, so I thought he’d be a good person to ask.

Here are his tips for staying productive:…..

My favorite point is to work in blocks. I actually work in 50 minute blocks, take a 15 minute break and then do another 50 minutes. One of the things you need to do is give yourself a goal to work towards at the end of the 50 minutes. It could be anything, even a cigarette although I am not recommending you take up smoking. I have coaching clients who are doing this much to my horror but…

Whatever works for you. We just need to get used to the idea of being productive.

Love to hear your feedback.
