Are You A Goal Kangaroo?
How To Stop Hopping From Goal To Goal
It’s something we have all suffered from. Being a goal kangaroo. In other words, setting a goal and working towards it until something else which looks tempting comes along and you immediately abandon your previous goal and start a new one.How to set goals and achieve them has tested even the most focused individuals and the truth is, many really don’t understand how important it is to focus on one goal at a time. The the failure rate of achieving goals for the majority of us is embarrassingly high.
There are at least five main steps you need when setting your initial goals. If just one is missing then you are “on the back foot” and destined to fail. Lord knows. I’ve been there and set goals in the past only to come crashing down in a great big heap simply because one of the following steps was left out.
Here’s the hardest thing for people to do when setting a goal. Understanding or identifying whether they actually have one in the first place. Here are the five steps and if you implement them then you will succeed in at least establishing the fact you have a goal.
#1.. This is crucial. You to do announce positively in statement form what it is you are going to achieve. It needs to be positive, not negative. In other wants, focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want.
#2.. You need to be able to sensitize your goal. Feel it, see it and hear it. Act like you have already achieved it. Use your senses to experience what you will feel when you have achieved it.
#3.. You need to be in control of your goal. In other words, it cannot be controlled by others. It’s yours and you own it. When you start working towards it are you in a position to start the wheels in motion yourself? Think about this, it’s very important.
#4.. This trips most people up. They are confused about what they really want. Many say they want something but deep down they want something else. For example, you want to be able to work from home but deep down you have a desire to work for XYZ company if only you were given the chance. One has to make way for the other for you to be able to achieve your goal. There can be no conflict here. Only one desire at a time.
#5.. “Get your ducks in a row.” In other words, assemble the resources you’ll need along the way. If you want to be a successful blogger then you need to know the right steps to take to achieve it. So you would learn or take training from a successful blogger. Make sense.
